About Activity

DarkGreen Adventures invites you for a thrilling night trek to Kothaligad. Kothaligad, one of the best places for trekking near Mumbai, is a small Fort (3100 ft) situated near Karjat-Murbad Road. It is also known as the Fort of Peth because of its vicinity to Peth village at its base.

There is a small temple and large cave at the base and a chimney-like tunnel to the top of the fort. This pinnacle is carved from inside forming a staircase reaching the top. There is a tank of water at some distance from the cave and another one at the top of the fort.

This tunnel is the high point of the trek, with its funnel-like structure and steps along the inside in a steep ascent to the very top.

Things to Remember
  • During treks, you would want your hands to be relatively free, and the journey to be devoid of any added discomfort. We advise you to carry a strong bag, preferably double strapped, that you could conveniently bring along, as opposed to a sling bag.
  • Trekking is a high-energy activity, and although this is an easy trek, it is advisable that you carry small snacks and fruit juice tetra packs to keep you going.
  • Please ensure you wear sturdy trekking or sports shoes. A basic pair of good quality shoes with decent grip can be obtained for less than Rs 1000.

Things to Carry
  • Medical and consent form:
  • 2 litre water (preferably in PET bottles)
  • Good trekking shoes or sport shoes
  • Mosquito repellent cream
  • Fruits and juices (recommended)
  • A double strap bag. Avoid sling bags or jholas.
  • Dinner for Saturday (recommended).
